I'm on a journey of finding myself, searching for connection, intention, and purpose. I'm excited to share my story with you!

S&P Global

Senior Data Scientist

2021 – Current

I am currently working as Sr. Data Scientist at S&P Global Commodity Insights. I work with large language models and GenAI to create tools to help users efficiently utilize resources. Whether it's streamlining processes, enhancing productivity, or optimizing workflows, the goal is to empower individuals to make the most of available resources.

3 years at S&P led me to get married to the love of my life, explore my career options, build positive attitude towards me and the world, and have a beautiful baby.

IDEO

Data Scientist

2019 – 2021

My first job after graduate school was at IDEO as a data scientist. I refined my communication skills by collaborating with consultants from diverse backgrounds. I learned to design projects from user research, convey complex data visually, and effectively present findings to clients and colleagues. My professional journey at IDEO has seen me undertake diverse projects, from crafting talent maps using web scraping and data analysis to investigating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in hiring practices. Leveraging robust data analytics and visualization techniques, I uncovered systemic biases and informed evidence-based strategies for fostering inclusivity.

Northwestern University

PhD

2013 – 2019

My journey in the US and in data science began as a PhD student at Northwestern University. My research focused on understanding complex network at work and understanding human behaviors and how they make decisions. This involved conducting both on-site and off-site research. Throughout this experience, I developed surveys, and used Python, statistics, machine learning, and network theories to analyze the results. I also applied models inspired by disease contagion and the adoption of innovations to quantify group behavior. Collaborating with a diverse team, I conducted experiments to observe peopl’s behaviors, incorporating user experience research methodologies to enhance app features and user interface.

Seoul National University

BS

2008 – 2013

The country girl’s first livign-in-big-city experience was during college, where I lived in Seoul for 5 years during my bachelor’s degree (except for 1 year where I lived in Seattle attending University of Washington in an exchange program). Love for big cities blossomed during this time.

My major was Chemical and Biological Engineering which I chose to solve all of world’s problems like energy crisis, global warming, and cancer. Soon I discovered this area of study will give me less likely chance of living in a big city…
